The Post Graduate Department was established in the year 2009. The Department offers P.G., Ph.D., and PGDGC (Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance & Counselling) programmes. Since 2022, the Department has been functioning as a unit of the University Department of Psychology, Kolhan University (KU), Chaibasa, West Singhbhum. The Department is equipped with a Psychological Laboratory and a Departmental Library for postgraduate students. Students engage in academic study, practical work, psychological testing, and research projects, thereby enhancing their counselling and guidance skills in various applied fields such as public and community health sectors, among others.

The Department of Psychology offers postgraduate, doctoral, and diploma programmes with a strong focus on applied psychology, counselling, and research. Equipped with modern laboratory facilities, the department has achieved academic excellence, including producing the topper in Social Sciences.

One student of the University Department of Psychology, KU, Chaibasa, was declared Topper of all Social Sciences (Session 2022–2024).
