University Department of Anthropology
The University Department of Anthropology came into existence within Kolhan University since its inception in the year 2009. Dr. Aruna Srivastava was the founder Head of this department.
University Department of Bangla
The Department of Bangla at Kolhan University is dedicated to providing quality undergraduate and postgraduate education, especially to students from rural, tribal, and economically weaker backgrounds. It plays a significant role in promoting higher education and literary studies in the region.
University Department of Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry at Kolhan University is a reputed centre for postgraduate teaching and research. It plays a significant role in delivering quality chemical education across constituent and affiliated colleges of the University.
University Department of Commerce & Business Management

The University Department of Economics, Kolhan University, Chaibasa was established on 13th August, 2009.
University Department of Education ( M.E.d )
The Department of Education is committed to developing competent and visionary teacher educators through quality academic programmes, research, and innovative teaching practices. It emphasizes professional excellence, inclusive education, and the effective use of ICT in a learner-centered environment.
University Department of English & Cultural Studies
The Department of English and Cultural Studies offers postgraduate and doctoral programmes with a strong emphasis on cultural discourse, research, and academic innovation. Equipped with modern ICT facilities and guided by NEP-aligned curricula, the department fosters intellectual growth, creativity, and human values among learners.
University Department of Geography

This department offers a Master of Science degree in Geology.
University Department of History

University Department of Home Science
Presently the department is having one smart classroom with digital board for learning and teaching. One practical classroom and few numbers of text books of Home Science are also available in the library. Wi-Fi facility is available.
University Department of Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics serves as a core academic unit supporting undergraduate, postgraduate, and research education across multiple disciplines. It aims to achieve excellence in teaching and research while nurturing analytical and problem-solving skills among students.
University Department of Odia
To develop language research in the three districts of Kolhan Division of Jharkhand State and adjoining areas of Odisha State.
University Department of Philosophy
The Department provides strong infrastructural support through library resources, digital teaching facilities, and student-friendly amenities. Its academic achievements include successful Ph.D. completions and the organization of significant intellectual events like World Philosophy Day.
University Department of Physics
The University Department of Physics was established with the inception of Kolhan University and offers postgraduate courses. The first batch of M.Sc. Physics completed in 2012, and Ph.D. courses were started in 2011.
University Department of Political Science
The Department of Political Science focuses on inclusive and quality education, especially for students from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. University Department of Psychology
The Department of Psychology offers postgraduate, doctoral, and diploma programmes with a strong focus on applied psychology, counselling, and research. Equipped with modern laboratory facilities, the department has achieved academic excellence, including producing the topper in Social Sciences.
University Department of Sociology

University Department of Urdu
The Department of Urdu is committed to the promotion of Urdu language and literature through quality teaching and research. It actively fosters academic collaboration and cultural exchange through seminars and joint Hindi–Urdu activities.
University Department of Zoology
The Department of Zoology offers postgraduate and doctoral programmes with a strong focus on modern biological sciences and applied research. Through innovative teaching methods, field-based learning, and active research engagement, the department prepares students for academic, industrial, and scientific careers.
जनजातीय एवं क्षेत्रीय भाषा विभाग
जनजातीय एवं क्षेत्रीय भाषा विभाग की स्थापना वर्ष 2011 में तीन भाषाओं—हो, संताली एवं कुड़माली—के साथ हुई है। वर्तमान में रूचि आधारित साख्य पद्धति पाठ्यक्रम 2020 के अनुसार स्नातकोत्तर पढ़ाई संचालित हो रही है।
स्नातकोत्तर संस्कृत विभाग
स्नातकोत्तर संस्कृत विभाग की स्थापना वर्ष 2012 में हुई थी। दो वर्षीय पाठ्यक्रम वर्ष 2017 में तथा चार वर्षीय पाठ्यक्रम वर्ष 2020 में प्रारम्भ किया गया। वर्ष 2017 में 05 छात्राओं को पीएच.डी. की उपाधि प्राप्त हुई, वहीं वर्ष 2018 में पीएच.डी. पाठ्यक्रम प्रारम्भ किया गया।
स्नातकोत्तर हिन्दी विभाग
विश्वविद्यालय ने विद्यार्थियों को अपने इमारत का अंश दिया है; अतः ईमान, श्रम और अनुशासन की ईंटों से इसकी रक्षा करना उनका दायित्व ही नहीं, बल्कि कर्तव्य भी है।
